We are Friends in Europe
We establish international contacts and fill the town twinning of the city of Rheine with life. The task of the town twinning association is to actively shape the partnerships of the city of Rheine with Borne (Netherlands), Bernburg (Germany), Leiria (Portugal) and Trakai (Lithuania) and to promote the friendly exchange as well as the togetherness of the citizens. Many meetings and friendships of individuals, organizations, groups and associations from Rheine to the twin towns contribute to maintain and intensify the contacts.
To make clear especially young people the value of European cooperation, an exchange of youth ambassadors is organized annually with Lithuania and Portugal. With Leiria there is also the annual exchange of school groups and a cultural exchange. Furthermore, a primary school exchange is maintained with the Dutch twin city of Borne.
